    Wedding Venues Sydney

    Mansfield House

Mansfield House is a notable example of mid-century modern architecture located at 10 Woodward Place, St Ives, on Sydney’s North Shore. Designed by the architectural firm Crooks, Michell, Peacock & Stewart, with Hans Velthuysen as the design architect, the house was completed between 1967 and 1968 for clients Mr. and Mrs. E. Mansfield.

    Architectural Features:

    • Design and Layout: The residence showcases a striking Palm Springs-style aesthetic, characterized by clean lines and a low-profile silhouette. Its L-shaped plan wraps around a north-facing 10-meter saltwater pool, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor living experience. A 14-meter partially covered terrace extends from the main living areas, offering an ideal space for relaxation and entertainment.
    • Interior Elements: Inside, the house retains many original features that exemplify mid-century design. Timber panel walls function as movable partitions, allowing for flexible space configurations. Built-in display units serve as room dividers, enhancing the open and airy ambiance of the interior.

    Historical Context:

Mansfield House has been meticulously maintained since its completion and remained under the care of its original owners for over five decades. In 2020, it was offered for sale, presenting a rare opportunity to own a piece of Sydney’s architectural heritage that embodies the essence of mid-century modern design.

This residence stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of mid-century architecture, harmoniously blending form and function while offering a timeless living environment.
